Mazal tov to Frieda and Dovid Wadler on the birth of two granddaughters, born to Ayelet and Doni Wadler from Lod, and to Michal and Shlomo Wadler from South Bend, Indiana. In addition, Dovid and Frieda are celebrating the tenth anniversary of their Aliyah.
There will be a kiddush this shabbat in honor of the Wadlers' smahot — and also Yehudit Nili Severi, a new member of our kehillah who recently completed her conversion to Judaism.
Mazal tov to Miriam Lehman Zinger on the bar-mitzvahs this shabbat of two of her grandsons: Daniel, son of Elana and Michel Fima, and Elia, son of Alza and Yitzchak Sikierski.
Mazal tov to Joe and Rolinda Schonwald on the birth of a granddaughter, Lia Shai, born to Avital and Dotan Corem.

Just as we gave Kimcha d'Pischa to needy families on Passover — via local social welfare departments and also battered women's shelters — we want to contribute food coupons, to strengthen and encourage them before the High Holidays. Each needy family will receive ₪200-₪300, based on family size. We are starting early so that tzedakah can be distributed two weeks before the New Year. Write checks to "Beit Knesset Emek Refaim – High Holiday Contributions". Please give generously, as it is written "God will reward those who give tzedakah to the poor."
