הטיול המסורתי לקראת יום ירושלים: ביום 29.05.19 בשעה 17:00

השנה נתמקד ברובע היהודי במלחמת העצמאות . שמואל בהט מתמחה בהדרכה בעיר העתיקה ולהלן תוכן הסיור בלשונו:

סיפור נפילתו של הרובע היהודי במלחמת העצמאות הוא אחד הסיפורים העצובים והמרתקים במלחמת העצמאות ובקורות ירושלים בעת החדשה.

נפתח את הסיור במבוא, תוך כדי הליכה מסביב לחומה, משער יפו לשער ציון. עיקר הסיור יעבור בין סמטאות הרובע ויעקוב אחר שלבי נפילתו בתש"ח.

במהלך הסיור ובעיקר בסופו, נדון במחלוקת הטעונה והנוקבת על סיבות נפילתו של הרובע ונסיים בסגירת המעגל במלחמת ששת הימים.

Dear Friends,

This year we will focus on the events in the Jewish Quarter during the War of Independence. Our guide Shmuel Bahat, who specializes in Old City tours, provided this description:

The story of the fall of the Jewish Quarter in the War of Independence is one of the saddest and most fascinating stories of the War of Independence and in the history of Jerusalem in modern times.

We will begin the tour at the Jaffa Gate, walking around the wall towards the Zion Gate. The major part of the tour will pass through the alleys of the Jewish Quarter and will trace its fall in 1948.

During the tour and especially at the end, we will discuss the charged and emotional controversy concerning the reasons for the fall of the Jewish Quarter, and we will close the circle with the events of the Six Day War.

We will meet at the entrance bridge to Jaffa Gate on Wednesday, May 29, at 17:00. The tour will last two and a half hours. Registration is by email to: mzer@walla.com or by calling 053.736.0785. Those who are interested should please sign up asap.

Dovid Wadler will provide a simultaneous English translation of the guide's explanations.

The program is dedicated to the memory of our own Holocaust survivors who founded Beit Knesset Emek Refaim.
