סיפור גבורה והצלה אופטימי על רקע אירועי מלחמת העולם השנייה, לצד השלכותיו ומשמעותו היום. נקודת המוצא היא בריחתם המוצלחת של כל 250 עובדי הכפייה היהודים שנותרו במחנה עבודה נאצי בנובוגרודוק, אז מזרח פולין היום בלארוס, באמצעות מנהרה שחפרו. באוגוסט 2012 הגיעו לאתר מחנה העבודה שלושה מהבורחים, ביניהם ג'ק קגן, אביו של מיכאל קגן, וחמישים בנים ונכדים של בורחים, במטרה למצוא את המנהרה. החפירות הארכיאולוגיות בסיוע צעירים מקומיים, העלו לא רק ערימות עפר וממצאים אלא גם את סיפורי המלחמה וההישרדות. הסיפור ההיסטורי של מנהרת הבריחה וסיפור החיפוש אחר המנהרה היום הופכים לסיפור אחד. On 26th day of Elul 5703 (September 26, 1943) i.e. four days before Rosh Hashanah 72 years ago, the last 250 Jews escaped from the work camp in the Novogrudok ghetto through a 208 meter long tunnel that they had been digging for the previous 5 months. My father, Jack Kagan, was one of the last out. Most of them made it to the forests and joined the Jewish partisans (Bielski Brigade). In August 2012, 60 children and grandchildren plus three surviving escapees returned to the site of the great escape to dig for the remains of the tunnel. Don’t miss this touching documentary.
