בהתקרב הימים הנוראים אנו נערכים לרישום המקומות. הנכם מתבקשים למלא את הטופס שבתחתית העמוד ושרק לפיו יִבָּנֶה שיבוץ המתפללים במקומות.

כידוע חלק גדול מהמקומות בבית הכנסת רשום על שם חברים קבועים. אנו נשתדל למצוא מקומות למתפללים נוספים על בסיס מקום פנוי. מקומות אלה הם לימי ראש השנה וליום כיפור ואינם כוללים את שבת פרשת האזינו (שבת שובה). גם השנה יהיו שני מקומות תפילה: בבית הכנסת ברח' יעל ובבית משפחת הרב וילק..

כל החברים מתבקשים למלא את הטופס, כולל אלו שלא יתפללו בבית הכנסת בימים הנוראים, כך שנוכל לדעת אלו מקומות יוותרו פנויים. אנא החזירו את הטפסים לא יאוחר מיום י"ב באלול תשע"ז 3.9.17. את הטופס יש לשלוח אל שמעון קהן: mekomot.yael@gmail.com. ניתן גם למלא את הטופס ידנית ולמוסרו לשמעון.

התשלום ליחיד: 400₪;  התשלום למשפחה הכוללת זוג או זוג עם ילדים לא נשׂוּאים: 800₪

As the High Holidays approach, we are beginning to assign seats. We ask you to please send back the information in the form below soon. Only once it’s been submitted can your request for seats be addressed by the seating committee.

As you know, most seats in shul are already assigned to members. We will try to accommodate additional requests on the basis of availability. These seats will be just for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. This doesn’t include Shabbat Ha’azinu (Shabbat Shuvah). Again, this year, there will be a minyan in the main shul as well as another one at the Vilk family home.

Everyone should fill out this form, even those who will not be joining these Services. Thus we will know in advance about all open seats. Please e-mail the forms no later than Sunday September 3, 2017 to Howie Kahn (mekomot.yael@gmail.com). Hard copies will also be available in the shul which can be given to Howie.

Prices: ₪400 for a single seat; ₪800 per couple or a family including unmarried children.

שבתון בבית ההארחה של קיבוץ עין צורים בשבת אחרי-מות / קדושים ב20-21.4.18

בשבתון הקודם ביקרנו בדרום הרי יהודה והשנה נטייל בשפלת יהודה. לפי בקשת רבים ידריך אותנו ,גם השנה, ד"ר דורון שר אבי בשלושה אתרים חשובים בהיסטוריה של עם ישראל: בחירבת קייאפה, בבית גוברין העתיקה ובחירבת עיתרי.

חרבת קייאפה: נמצאת מצפון מזרח לצומת האלה. העיר מוקפת חומת סוגרים מסיבית בגובה מקורי של 6 מ' ורוחב 4.5 מ' ובנויה מאבנים גדולות עד כדי 5 טון האחת.לעיר שני שערים דומים ועל כן סוברים כי נקראה שעריים. בשער הדרומי משולבות שתי אבנים ענקיות במשקל 10.5 טון כל אחת, לא נמצא שער נוסף כה מסיבי בארץ מתקופת התנ"ך.

בעיר נמצאו שני אוסטרקונים כתובים בעברית עתיקה. נמצא גם דגם מוקטן של בית מקדש ולא נמצאו שרידי עצמות חזיר וכן לא נמצאו שרידי קרמיקה פלישתית. גלעיני זית שנמצאו בחפירות נקבע גילם לתקופת דוד המלך ע"י פחמן 14. כל אלה מצביעים על כך שהעיר היתה יהודית, וחוזקה מראה, ללא ספק, על ממלכה חזקה שעמדה מאחורי הקמת עיר זו שהיא היא ממלכת דוד המלך, בניגוד לכל המפקפקים בקיומה של ממלכה כזו כבר בראשית המאה העשירית לפני הספירה.

בית גוברין העתיקה היתה "בירת הדרום", אדומאה, מאז תקופת הורדוס ועד לסוף התקופה הביזנטית, במשך 600 שנה ושלטה על אזור נרחב: מבאר שבע ועד עמק האלה ומים המלח ועד למישור החוף.

חירבת עיתרי היתה כפר יהודי מתקופת בית שני ועד מרד בר כוכבא, שבסופו הפך לשממה כל דרום הארץ וגם כפר זה. במקום בית כנסת יהודי, מבני מגורים ורחובות, מחסנים תת קרקעיים, בורות מים, מערות מסתור ומקוואות.

בשבת נתארח בבית ההארחה של קבוץ "עין צורים". נא ראו באינטרנט את החדרים היפים, מבחוץ ומבפנים,שגם הומלצו ע"י חברנו שמעון קהן שהתארח שם. המחיר לזוג בחדר הוא ₪1,150  (אדם נוסף בחדר כ-₪380) בתוספת דמי נסיעה ₪100 לאיש. על מנת שנוכל להזמין את החדרים בזמן, נא להרשם אצל חברנו קלמן פיינברג בדוא"ל kalfpe@gmail.com. הרשמה מוקדמת וזריזה הכרחית כי לא ישארו חדרים פנויים אם נתמהמה.

Shabbaton at Kibbutz Ein Zurim Guest House on Shabbat Acharei-Mot / Kedoshim, April 20-21, 2018

On our previous Shabbaton, we visited the southern Judean hills, and this year we will tour the Judean plain. By popular demand, Dr. Doron Sar Avi will be our guide again this year, and we will visit three important sites in the history of the Jewish people: Khirbet Kaifeh, Ancient Beit Guvrin, and Khirbet Itri.

Khirbet Kaifeh: Located northeast of the Elah junction, the city was surrounded by a massive enclosure wall at an original height of six meters and a width of four and a half meters, built of large stones of up to five tons. The city has two matching gates and therefore it is believed that it might have been called Sha’arayim. There is a pair of two huge stones, each weighing 10.5 tons, at the southern gate. No other such a massive gate, dating from the biblical period, has been found in Israel.

Two ostracons, inscribed in ancient Hebrew, were found in the city. A small model of the temple was also found, but no remains of pig bones or of Philistine pottery have been uncovered. The olive seeds found in the excavations were dated by Carbon 14 to be from the time of King David. All these indicate that it was a Jewish city, and its strength shows, without a doubt, that a strong kingdom stood behind the establishment of this city, namely the kingdom of King David, repudiating all those who doubt the existence of a kingdom as early as the beginning of the tenth century BCE.

Ancient Beit Guvrin was the “capital of the south,” (Adomea) for 600 years from the time of Herod until the end of the Byzantine period, and it ruled over a wide area: from Beer Sheva to the Elah Valley, and from the Dead Sea to the coastal plain.

Khirbet Itri was a Jewish village from the time of the Second Temple until the Bar Kokhba Revolt, at the end of which all the south of the country, including this village, became a wasteland. The site contains a synagogue, residential buildings and streets, underground storehouses, water cisterns, hiding caves, and mikva’ot.

On Shabbat we will be staying at Kibbutz Ein Tzurim. You can see the beautiful rooms, both inside and outside, on the internet. The cost per couple per room is ₪1,150 (additional person in the room ₪380), plus the fare of ₪100 per person.

In order for us to book the rooms in time, please register with Kal Feinberg at kalfpe@gmail.com. Early registration is essential because there will be no rooms available for those who delay.
