Announcements

• The kehilla is invited to kiddush after the 9:00 am minyan to mark the shabbat-chatan of Ivri Sacofsky, son of Michael and Rachel Sacofsky. Ivri will marry Yaara Altman of Kibbutz Kefar Etzion after Yom Kippur.
• John & Tabby Corre are delighted to announce the birth of a great-grandson, son of their grandson Gidon and Shira Odes, grandson of their daughter Joanne and David Odes of Alon Shvut and of Itzik and Rinat Weiss of Petach Tikvah, and great-grandson also of Michael & Julia Odes of Sydney, Australia.
• Rav Vilk will teach his shiur daf yomi at 6:30am, and will deliver his Shabbat Shuva talk after mincha, which will start early – at 5:55 pm.

• With Rosh Chodesh Elul here, it’s time to renew membership in our Kehilla, and additionally to reserve seats for the Yamim Noraim, and to update your contact info, as needed, prior to our pending publication of an updated members directory. You’ll be able to do all this here.
• Michael Kagan’s photographic exhibition at Beit Mozes has been extended to the end of August.Still time to visit.
• From Rav Vilk: The Rabbi thanks everyone for all their help and donations; the computers that were received and the money for purchasing computers, and with God’s help, they will all reach the Jews waiting in Addis Ababa and Gondar. As usual, we have discovered once again that our community is generous, caring and loving towards others.
• During these very hot summer days, it's important that our air conditioners be working properly. Therefore, we ask our members to make sure that all of the windows and the front doors remain closed.
• Rav Vilk will teach his shiur daf yomi at 6:30am, and his shiur between mincha and maariv on Shabbat.

  אני מלווה את קהילת שארית יהודי אתיופיה הממתינים לעליה. חזרתי לפני כמה ימים מעוד ביקור בקהילות הנפלאות שם, ואשמח לספר על הנושא לכל המעוניין. לצערי הצעירים בגונדר חסרי תעסוקה, בעיקר בגלל שבאתיופיה עובדים גם בשבת. הם זקוקים למחשבים ניידים. אם יש למי מכם מחשב במצב טוב, לא צריך חדש, ותוכלו למסור אותו אחרי מחיקת כל המידע, אשמח להעביר אליהם. מעבר לזה, אנו זקוקים למחשב חזק לאחד הצעירים, בעיקר לשימוש ב-AI ועריכה.
  תודה וגאולה שלמה בקרוב ב"ה. 
• יעקב וג'ולי שור מזמינים את הקהילה לקידוש לאחר המניין השני, לרגל היארצייט של אביו של יעקב, משה שור ז"ל.

• From Rav Vilk:
  I have been accompanying the remaining Ethiopian Jewish communities awaiting Aliyah. I returned a few days ago from another visit to those wonderful communities, and I would be happy to speak about the topic with anyone interested.
  Unfortunately, the young people in Gondar are unemployed, mainly because in Ethiopia people also work on Shabbat. They are in need of laptop computers. If any of you have a computer in good condition — it doesn't have to be new — and can donate it after wiping out all personal data, I would be happy to pass it on to them. We also need a powerful computer for one of the young people, primarily for use in AI and editing.
  Thank you, and may complete redemption come soon, G-d willing.
• Yaakov and Julie Schorr are sponsoring Kiddush this Shabbat, after the 9am minyan, on the occasion of the yahzeit of Yaakov's father, Moshe Schorr z"l.
• Lost and found:  If you lost a car key in shul, please notify the gabbai.
• Rav Vilk will not be giving his usual shiurim this Shabbat.
