מאז הקמת קרן הצדקה, עזרנו לעשרות משפחות. בעזרתו של יעקב בסטהוף, וכל החברים שתרמו לקרן, הצלחנו להיענות למרבית הבקשות – הדחופות – תוך 48 שעות.
בששת החודשים האחרונים עזרנו בין השאר:
- לאם יחידנית לאחד עשר ילדים שמתקיימת מקצבת ביטוח לאומי, לקנות דוד מים חמים – לאחר שהקודם התקלקל ללא תקנה.
- למשפחה עם 13 ילדים שדירתם נשרפה כליל להחליף חלק מציוד המטבח,
- למשפחה עם 12 ילדים שחיה בשני חדרים לקנות מקרר,
- מנענו ניתוק החשמל לדירתם של אמא עובדת ושלושת ילדיה,
- עזרנו להחזיר את המים לדירה של אלמנה שמתגוררת בדירה זעירה עם אחותה.
ואלו הן רק דוגמאות מעטות מתוך כשלושים וחמש משפחות להן עזרנו בשנה האחרונה.
ועד בית הכנסת העלה את תקרת הסכום לעזרה ל4000 ₪, להתאים לעלית המחירים, והקרן מתכווצת בהתאם. אנחנו נמצאים בתחילת החורף, ולאחר הסערה ונזקיה צפויות להגיע אלינו בקשות רבות לעזרה. בבקשה עזרו לנו למלא את הקרן, כדי שנוכל לתת עזרה דחופה למשפחות נצרכות.
תרומות בדולרים ניתן לתת דרך PEF , אולם יש להקפיד לכתוב שהתרומה לפקודת קרן הצדקה של בית הכנסת עמק רפאים. המחאות בשקלים ניתן להעביר ליעקב בסטהוף, ת.ד. 8334, ירושלים, 91082. וגם על המחאות אלו יש לרשום שהן לפקודת קרן הצדקה של בית הכנסת עמק רפאים.

Dear Kehilla –
Since the creation of the shul's tzeddakah fund, we have been providing emergency relief to dozens of families. With the incredible help of Ya'acov Besthoff and all of the community members who sponsor these requests, we have been able to process most grants within 48 hours.
In the past six months alone, we have helped:
- A single mother with 11 children who lives off of Bituach Leumi who had no hot water heater.
- A family with 13 children whose apartment burned down to replace their appliances.
- A family with 12 children living in a 2 room apartment who had no refrigerator.
- We prevented the electricity from being turned off for a single working mother with three children.
- We got the water turned back on for a 71 year old widow who lives with her sister in a one room apartment.
- And these are only some of the cases…
The va'ad of the Shul has raised the maximum grant to 4,000 NIS to accommodate rising prices. But the current balance of the tzeddakah fund is sinking dangerously low. This is only the beginning of the winter and after the damages of the recent blizzard, we are anticipating even more requests than usual.
Please help us to replenish the fund so that we can continue to provide emergency relief to families in need. Dollar donations can be made through PEF – but must be marked "Beit Kenneset Emek Refaim/Tzeddakah Fund". Shekel checks can be given or mailed directly to Ya'acov Besthoff – POB 8334, Jerusalem, 91082, and should also be clearly marked "for the tzeddakah fund".
