A Different Kind of Hoshana Rabbah Learning (English)

Just 3½ weeks till Hoshana Rabbah!

According to the Kabbalists, on this special night all the gates are open – from keter down to malchut and from malchut up to keter or, in our language, from heaven to earth and from earth to heaven. This is the night when we are totally aligned with the Divine flow. On this night we are all channels for inspiration!

In this spirit I invite you to join a different learning format: Mini-TED talks. We each of us live inspired — and inspiring — lives, not just those people who present TED talks.

You are invited to inspire us with some part of your own personal story. Not a book that you read or a commentary that you learned or a film that you saw — but something from your own life. No slides. In 9 minutes you are invited to help inspire us. There will be time for 10 presenters.

Please overcome any shyness and contact me soon if you can participate. I have facilitated events like this all over the world and they are always, always inspiring. If you don't want to speak, please join us in learning more about some of your fellow kehillah members.

רק שלושה וחצי שבועות נשארים עד הושענא רבה. אני רוצה להזמין אתכם לערב לימוד מסוג אחר: מיני-TED. לכולנו חיים מעניינים מאוד, לא רק אלה שמופיעים בכנסי TED. בתשע דקות בלבד, את/ה מוזמנ/ת להוסיף לנו השראה. יהיה זמן לעשרה מציגים.

נא התגבר/י על כל ביישנות ותהיו אתי בקשר. אירגנתי אירועים רבים כאלה ותמיד עוררו השראה. אם אינך מוכן לדבר, אז תצטרפו כדי ללמוד מעט על החברים שלך בקהילה.

מזל טוב למשפחת מדווד לרגל הולדת הבן ללאה ומשה (מוֹמוֹ) והנכד ליונתן וגֵ׳יין. הקהילה מוזמנת לברית מילה שתתקיים ביום ג׳ בבית משפחת מדווד ברחוב זרובבל 6 : סליחות ב-7:15, שחרית ב-7:45, ברית מילה ב-8:30.

- Mazal tov to the Medved family on the birth of a son to Leah and Moshe (Momo) — and a new grandson for Jane and Jon. The entire kehillah is invited the brit milah on Tuesday morning at the Medveds' (6 Zrubavel): selihot: 7:15, shacharit: 7:45, brit milah: 8:30.

- The kehillah is invited to a kiddush this Shabbat morning, hosted by Marsha Roth Isaacs and Avi Isaacs, marking 50 years since Avi's aliyah.
- Mazal tov to the Medved family on the birth of a son to Leah and Moshe (Momo) — and a new grandson for Jane and Jon. The kehillah is invited to a שלום זָכָר on Friday night at 9:30pm at the Medveds' (6 Zrubavel). All are also invited to the ברית מילה, which should take place אי״ה on Tuesday morning (שחרית at 8:00am, brit at 8:30).
- Mazal Tov to Adina and Moshe Schlesinger on the wedding of their granddaughter.
- Selichot on מוצ״ש at 11:00pm. Starting Monday morning, shacharit will start at 5:30am and 7:00am.

תרומות לקראת הימים הנוראים

במקביל לתרומות קמחא דפסחא, נוהגות לשכות הרווחה לחלק תלושי אוכל לקראת החגים. בדרך כלל משתדלים העובדים הסוציאליים להעניק ₪200-₪300 למשפחה לקראת החגים הבאים עלינו לטובה. למרות שאין מדובר בסכומים ניכרים הרי שזה בכל זאת משהו, והמשפחות מחכות בכיליון עיניים למענקים אלו. הלשכות תלויות בתרומות של אנשי חסד וקרנות צדקה כי אין להם סכומים מספיקים מן העיריה.נודה לכם על תרומתכם ביד רחבה, כדי לאפשר מתן המענקים ליותר ויותר משפחות נזקקות ולהדליק יותר אור ושמחה בחגים. ניתן לתרום באתר הקהילה פה באמצעות כרטיס אשראי ולציין "לשכות הרווחה". ניתן גם לתרום בהעברה בנקאית לחשבון קרן צדקה או במעטפה לתיבת הדאר בכניסה לעזרת הגברים.

ראויים הם ראש השנה ,יום הכיפורים וימי התשובה, שנרבה לתרום בהם לעזרת אלו שאין להם.

Holiday Donations

Similar to the donations of Kimcha Dapischa on Pesach, the city welfare agencies will distribute food coupons for the High holidays to families in need. The social workers try to give each family NIS 200-300 for the upcoming holidays. Although not a substantial amount, it is still something, and families eagerly await these grants. The bureaus are dependent on donations from individuals and charities because they don’t have adequate funds to distribute to all who are needy.

We thank you in advance for your generous donation to enable grants to more and more needy families, and ensure that more families have true holiday happiness.

You can donate at the Shul website via credit card here and specify "welfare bureaus", donate by bank transfer to our Keren Tzedakah account, or place an envelope in the mailbox at the entrance to the mens’ Shul.

Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, and the days of repentance, are worthy times to donate to those who are needy.
