הכנסת כלה

לפני כשנה וחצי הגיעה ארצה אנה סֶבֶרִי, בחורה איטלקיה בת 27, ועל גבה תרמיל, בשאיפה להתגייר. היא הגיעה לקהילת "אריאל" בשכונת בית וגן ושם קיבלוה בעין טובה וארחו אותה בשבתות ובחגים. לפני כשנה עברה לגור בבקעה ומאז גם אנו וקהילתנו קהילת "בית כנסת עמק רפאים" דאגנו לה לשבתות, לחגים ולימות החול. אנה למדה בשקדנות במכון אורה ולאחר שנה זכתה לסיים את ההליך ורבני בית הדין אמרו לה: "לכבוד הוא לנו שהצטרפת לעם היהודי."

יהודית נילי, זה שמה לאחר הגיור, עברה את הבחינה בשפה העברית, אותה למדה במקביל. כזכור גם ערכנו קידוש בבית הכנסת לכבוד היהודיה החדשה. בראשית מרחשוון תינשׂא יהודית נילי בשעה טובה ומוצלחת. אנו פונים בזה אל חברינו בקהילה לתרום ל"הכנסת כלה" ולעזור להקים בית בישראל. את התרומות ניתן להעביר לקרן הצדקה ולציין: "הכנסת כלה". כמקובל בקרן הצדקה יירכש ציוד נחוץ לבית בתאום עם הכלה.

Announcements

    • Mazal tov to Zehava and Daniel Taub on the birth of a new grandson, born to Sophie and Chanan Kupietzky.
    • Mazal tov to Miriam Weinstein upon reaching the age of 90 on Simchat Torah. Rabbanit Pearl Borow will convey a bracha upon Miriam at the women's Torah reading on Simchat Torah. The women of the kehillah are also invited to hear Rabbi Shlomo Vilk deliver her a message after the kiddush in front of her home.
    • The kiddush on Simchat Torah is the gift to the kehillah of Sid Tennenbaum, in commemoration of the first yahrzeit of his father Joseph, who passed away last Simchat Torah full of Simchat Chaim — and in appreciation for the warm embrace that Sid received during this year of avelut.

Hachnasat Kallah

About a year and a half ago, Anna Severi, a 27-year-old Italian woman, arrived in Israel with a backpack, hoping to convert to Judaism. She came to Ariel in the Bayit Vagan neighborhood, where she was received with kindness and was hosted on shabbatot and chagim. A year later she moved to Baka, and since then our community has taken care of her on many shabbatot and chagim. Anna studied diligently at the Ora Institute and after a year she completed the procedure. The rabbis of the Bet Din told her: “We are honored that you have joined the Jewish people.”

Yehudit Nili, her name post-conversion, also passed her Hebrew language exam, for which she studied simultaneously. As you will recall, we also held a kiddush in honor of our new member of the Jewish people. On Rosh Chodesh Marcheshvan, Yehudit Nili will be married אי״ה. We appeal to our members to contribute to her Hachnasat Kallah and help her build a new home in Israel. Donations can be made via our Tzedakah Fund and should be marked: “Hachnasat Kallah”.

לימוד ליל הושענא רבה

בית הכנסת "עמק רפאים" מזמין את הציבור הרחב לחוויית לימוד ליל הושענא רבה. הלימוד יתקיים אי"ה במוצאי שבת חוה"מ סוכות, כ' בתשרי (29/9/18) בבית הכנסת ברחוב יעל 4, בקעה. בתוכנית:

בהתקרב הימים הנוראים אנו נערכים לרישום המקומות. הנכם מתבקשים למלא את הטופס שבתחתית העמוד ושרק לפיו יִבָּנֶה שיבוץ המתפללים במקומות.

כידוע חלק גדול מהמקומות בבית הכנסת רשום על שם חברים קבועים. אנו נשתדל למצוא מקומות למתפללים נוספים על בסיס מקום פנוי. מקומות אלה הם לימי ראש השנה וליום כיפור ואינם כוללים את שבת פרשת וילך (שבת שובה). גם השנה יהיו שני מקומות תפילה: בבית הכנסת ברח' יעל ובבית משפחת הרב וילק..

כל החברים מתבקשים למלא את הטופס, כולל אלו שלא יתפללו בבית הכנסת בימים הנוראים, כך שנוכל לדעת אלו מקומות יוותרו פנויים. אנא החזירו את הטפסים לא יאוחר מיום י' באלול תשע"ח 21.8.18. את הטופס יש לשלוח אל שמעון קהן mekomot.yael@gmail.com.

Seats for the Yamim Nora'im 5779

With the approach of the Yamim Nora’im, we are preparing for the assignment of seats. Please fill in the form at the bottom of the page; this is the only means through which seats will be allotted.

As is well-known, many of the seats in the synagogue are permanently assigned. We will try to find seats for additional worshipers on the basis of availability. Seat assignments are for the days of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, and do not include Shabbat Parshat Vayelech (Shabbat Shuva).

This year there will again be two locations in which to daven: the shul itself on Yael Street, and in Rabbi Vilk’s home.

All members are asked to fill in the form, including those who will not be with us on the Yamim Nora’im, so that we can know which seats will be available. Please return the form no later than August 21, 2018. Anyone who is hosting guests and who would like seats for them should also fill out the form on the next page. These forms should be sent to Shimon Kahan at mekomot.yael@gmail.com.

Payment in advance. Due to collection problems from some members in the past, it has been decided that this year we will pay for membership fees and seats in advance. Seat assignment will take place only after payment is received, as is true in most synagogues.

The payment is ₪800 for a family that includes a couple, or a couple with unmarried children, or ₪400 for an individual. You can print out and complete the forms and place them, together with the payment, in an envelope in the box near the door of the men’s section. You can also pay through a bank transfer to the “Emek Refaim Synagogue” account number 544070 at Bank Hapoalim, branch 748.
