  • קורונה – דלתות פתוחותֿ

הקורונה עדין אתנו. אחרי התייעצות רפואית הוועד החליט שבזמן התפילות הדלתות תשארנה פתוחות. החורף מתקרב ויהיו ימים שהקור מציק לנו. מתוך דאגה לבריאות הציבור גם בימים קרים יש להקפיד להשאיר את הדלתות פתוחות.

  • תזכורת – דמי חבר תשפ״ג

חברים שטרם שילמו דמי חבר לשנת תשפ״ג מתבקשים לשלם בהקדם. ניתן לשלם בכרטיס אשראי דרך האתר. הסכום הכולל לשנה זו הוא 1000 ש״ח למשפחה ו-500 ש״ח ליחיד.

  • Mazal tov to Ruthie Rakovsky on the birth of a great-granddaughter, Mia;  granddaughter to Shira and Barry Schlesinger and daughter to Naomi and Elisha Schlesinger.
  • The kiddush of this year’s Simchat Torah Chatanim and Kallah will take place on Shabbat Chayei-Sarah (November 19) following the second minyan. Mazal tov and thank you to all.
  • The community is reminded that according to the rules of the Beit Knesset: “One can only serve as a ‘shaliach tzibbur’ with the permission of the gabbaim and there are no automatic ‘chazakot’ or ‘chiyuvim’ in this regard.”
  • The Annual General Meeting of the Amuta of the Beit Knesset will take place on Motzei Shabbat ‘Chayei Sarah’ – 25th Cheshvan/November 19 – at 7:30pm. Anyone interested in being a candidate or nominating one for the va’ad please contact Michael Gillis. See 2021 Financial Report here.
  • Corona – Open Doors
    Corona is still with us. Following professional consultation the va’ad has decided that during tefillot the doors must remain open. The winter months are approaching and there will be days when we will feel the cold. Because of health concerns the doors should be kept open even on cold days.

Members who have not yet paid their annual fees are reminded to do so. Payments can be made through the website. The total sum due is 1000 NIS for a family and 500 NIS for an individual.

  • הקהילה מאחלת רפואה שלמה וּמהירה לחברנו מיכאל אלברט (מיכאל בן רבקה) שעבר ניתוח לב השבוע.

  • מסכות: כעת, לפי הנחיות משׂרד הבריאות, אין חובה לעטות מסכות. בכל זאת, לאור העובדה שאצלנו יש מתפללים רבים בקבוצת סיכון מוגברת, אנחנו מבקשים לעטות מסכות בתפילות כאשר יש מתפללים רבים בבית הכנסת – בעיקר בליל שבת ובמניין השני בשבת בבוקר. נמשיך את המדיניות של דלתות וחלונות פתוחים בזמן התפילה.

  • Mazal tov to George Lowell on the birth of a great-grandson, born to Chaya Mushka and Yosef Yitzchak Lowell on Shabbat morning, 27 Iyar, 28 May.  Mazal tov to all the relatives of the Lowell-Lebowitz and Dubov families.
  • A double mazal tov to Ruthie Rackovsky on the birth of 2 great-grandchildren. Last week great-granddaughter Omer Esther was born to Yedidyah and Hila Schlesinger; her grandparents are Shira and Barry Schlesinger. And this week a baby boy was born to Tehilah and Dovid Kitov; his grandparents are Yoel and Shoshannah Rackovsky.
  • The kehilla wishes a refuah shlemah v’mehira to our member Michael Elbert (Michael ben Rivka), following open-heart surgery.
  • Our member David Olivestone interviewed fellow Yael Shul member Professor Yisrael Aumann. Here’s the article that was published in the latest issue of Hamizrachi Magazine.
  • Learning program in Hebrew for the eve of Shavuot. See post.
  • Masks: The Ministry of Health has ended the requirement to wear masks. Nevertheless, because we have members who are in a high risk category, we request that masks be worn when the Beit Knesset is quite full – principally on Friday nights and second minyan on Shabbat morning. We will continue to keep windows and doors open during tefillot. Anyone uncomfortable with masking is welcome to daven outdoors.
  • Security: No special instructions have been received from the police regarding security in the present situation. Nevertheless, the va’ad asks those licensed to carry a weapon to come armed to the Beit Knesset.
