• סיפור קצר:  בעת תפילת יזכור אמר פעם חברנו מר דוד שטיינר ז״ל , ״כמה טוב לראות אנשים יוצאים לתפילה הזאת. בית הכנסת הוקם על ידי ניצולים שכל אחד ואחד מהם איבד מישהו בשׁואה, ואף אחד לא יצא במשך שנים ארוכות.״ בשנה האחרונה שינינו את סדר תפילת יזכור, כך שאלה שלא איבדו הורה ישמעו לפחות תפילה לזכר חיילי צה״ל וקרבנות השואה. השבוע ראינו תפילה מיוחדת במינה הנועדת לאלה עם הורים חיים.

• A kiddush will be given this shabbat sponsored by our chatanei Torah, Nehemia Yoel and Albert Gellman.
• Next Friday, we begin saying ותן טל ומטר in the שמונה עשׂרה.
• A short story… David Steiner ז״ל, one of founders, used to say after Yizkor, "It's so good to  see people actually leave for this tefilah. This beit knesset was founded by survivors, and for decades not a one left during Yizkor." Recently, we've switched the Yizkor order, so that everyone can at least hear the prayers in memory of our fallen soldiers and the victims of murderous hatred towards the Jewish People. This week we saw a poignant prayer, in honor of living parents:

Lord, as we say the yizkor prayer in memory of beloved departed family members, I lift my eyes in gratitude for my parents _____ still with me. Bless them with good health, and give them the strength to live many more good year. Strengthen me that I might help them, too, with all my own strength and will. Help me understand the terrific responsibility upon my shoulders and the special rights they deserve the rest of their lives, lest my conscience have what to regret someday when they are gone. Help me live my own life to be a source of joy and pride to them while they live, that your love live in me with a full heart.
