שבוע טוב, שלום וּברכה, אני מבקשת עזרתכם כדי לספק 2 ארוחות שבת למרכז לחיילים בודדים בארנונה. שבת המיועדת לנו אי״ה היא פרשת בהעלתך, 10 ליוני 2022.חיילים הבודדים האמיצים אלה, צעירים כצעירות מהתפוצות, עוזבים את בטיחות וביטחון משפחותיהם ובתיהם כדי להגן על זכותנו לקום כל בֹּקר. אנא תעזרו להראות להם איך אומרים "תודה!"

אם יכולים לבשל, אך קשה להביא את האֹכל למרכז, אנא שלחו דוא"ל ל-shmuelgoldin@gmail.com ונשׂמח לארגן איסוף. אם יכולים להעביר את האֹכל, אנא תביאו אותו לרחוב בית הערבה 9 ביום שישי בין השעות 9-12 בבקר. .

Barbara Goldin here again, enlisting your help to provide 2 full Shabbat meals for the Lone Soldier Center in Arnona. Our designated Shabbat is this week, June 10.

Aside from the young men and women who come from all around the world to volunteer and serve in the IDF, 30% of our Lone Soldiers are Israelis whose families refuse to support their decision to serve, and thus cannot go home.

If you have never prepared a dish before, please consider doing it now. I cannot tell you how appreciative these young men and women are when I come by Friday morning with the food.

Please sign up on this spreadsheet. The food should be delivered to Bet Haarava 9 this Friday between 9-12. If you are unable to transport the food, please email me and let me know. I will happily pick the food up from you and deliver it.

• Mazal tov to George Lowell on the birth of a great-grandson, born to Chaya Mushka and Yosef Yitzchak Lowell on Shabbat morning, 27 Iyar, 28 May.  Mazal tov to all the relatives of the Lowell-Lebowitz and Dubov families.
• A double mazal tov to Ruthie Rackovsky on the birth of 2 great-grandchildren. Last week great-granddaughter Omer Esther was born to Yedidyah and Hila Schlesinger; her grandparents are Shira and Barry Schlesinger. And this week a baby boy was born to Tehilah and Dovid Kitov; his grandparents are Yoel and Shoshannah Rackovsky.
• The kehilla wishes a refuah shlemah v’mehira to our member Michael Elbert (Michael ben Rivka), following open-heart surgery.
• Our member David Olivestone interviewed fellow Yael Shul member Professor Yisrael Aumann. Here’s the article that was published in the latest issue of Hamizrachi Magazine.
• Learning program in Hebrew for the eve of Shavuot. See post.
• Masks: The Ministry of Health has ended the requirement to wear masks. Nevertheless, because we have members who are in a high risk category, we request that masks be worn when the Beit Knesset is quite full – principally on Friday nights and second minyan on Shabbat morning. We will continue to keep windows and doors open during tefillot. Anyone uncomfortable with masking is welcome to daven outdoors.
• Security: No special instructions have been received from the police regarding security in the present situation. Nevertheless, the va’ad asks those licensed to carry a weapon to come armed to the Beit Knesset.

• Mazal tov to Tuvya and Chaya Klughaupt on the Bat Mitzva of their daughter, Hallel Chana. In honor of Hallel Chana’s Bat Mitzvah the Klughaupts sponsor  the Yom Yerushalayim Seudah Shlishit this Shabbat. Further details here.
• Yom Yerushalayim events: There will be a communal Seudah Shlishit in the shul courtyard in honor of Yom Yerushalayim. Mincha will be early at 6:45pm. At the end of Shabbat at 8:18pm there will be a celebratory Arvit for Yom Yerushalayim. On Sunday there will be light refreshments served after each of the Shacharit minyanim.
