• Mazal Tov to our chaver Jonathan Porath on the publication of his new book ״Here We Are All Jews–175 Russian-Jewish Journeys [Gefen Publishing]״ (see flyer).
• The book launch will take place at Beit Knesset Emek Refaim on Tuesday evening, September 6, at 7:30pm.
• Speakers will include Rabbi Shlomo Vilk and Natan Sharansky. Natan and Jonathan will speak in English. 
• A light dessert will follow. Books will be available for sale.

• ביום ראשון, צום י״ז בתמוז, תלינו בארון הקודש את הפרוכת המיוחדת לשלושת השבועות.עליה כתוב: ״מתנת קהילת מוסבך (גרמניה) לכבוד שיפוץ וחנוכת הבית תרנ״ט (1899)". הפרוכת הובאה ארצה ע״י חברנו אברהם זליגמן ז״ל, ממקימי בית הכנסת.
• השיעור של הרב וילק בדף יומי יתקיים  ב-6:30 בבוקר.
• הרב וילק יתן שיעור בין מנחה לערבית בנושא ״גישות בפסיקת הלכה״.
• מסכות: אין עדיין חובה מטעם משרד הבריאות לעטות מסכות. בכל זאת, לאור ההתפרצות הנוכחית של קורונה, מומלץ לעטות מסכה בתוך בית הכנסת במיוחד כאשר נמצא קהל גדול. יש אפשרות להתפלל בחוץ ללא מסכה.
• למרות שאינן הוראות חדשות מהמשטרה לגבי שמירה על בית הכנסת לאור המצב הביטחוני הנוכחי, הוועד מבקש מחברים המחזיקים נשק ברישיון להגיע חמושים לבית הכנסת.

Announcements

• Last Sunday, the fast of the 17th of Tammuz, the parochet we use each year for the Three Weeks was hung on the aron kodesh. The inscription on the parochet reads: “A gift of the Mosbach (Germany) community on the occasion of the rededication of the synagogue in the year of its renovation, 5659 (1899).” The parochet was brought from Europe by one of the early leaders of our shul, Avraham Seligman ז״ל. See parochet picture above.
• Rav Vilk’s Daf Yomi class will be at 6:30am. 
• Rav Vilk will give a class between mincha and aravit on the topic of “Approaches to Halachic Decisions.”
• Masks: There is still no formal requirement of the Ministry of Health to wear masks. Nevertheless, with the current outbreak of COVID, it is recommended that masks be worn inside the Beit Knesset particularly when it is crowded. Anyone uncomfortable with masking is welcome to daven outdoors. 
• Security: No special instructions have been received from the police regarding security in the present situation. Nevertheless, the va’ad asks those licensed to carry a weapon to come armed to the Beit Knesset.
