בית הכנסת עמק רפאים
שם בית הכנסת "עמק רפאים", בהיות שכונת בקעה (גאולים), בה שוכן, ממוקמת בתוך עמק רפאים ההיסטורית-מקראית. יחד עם זאת, הוא מכונה בפי אנשי השכונה "יעל", על שום הימצאותו ברחוב יעל.
בית הכנסת נוסד בשנת ה'תש"ט (1949) על-ידי עולים חדשים, ניצולי שואה ממרכז אירופה שהגיעו לשכונה בסוף מלחמת העצמאות, ותושבים מהשפלה שעלו לירושלים כדי לשרת במוסדות הממשלה. כיום מונה הקהילה כ-120 משפחות, ומוסיפה לשלב בין ילידי הארץ ובין עולים חדשים מכל קצוות תבל.
רב הקהילה, הרב שלמה וילק, הוא ראש ישיבת ההסדר "אור תורה-מחניים" שבגוש עציון, וכן מורה ומלמד במסגרות שונות.
בית הכנסת שוכן בבנין אבן עתיק, בעל קשתות מרהיבות וחלל פנימי נעים ומזמין. שיפוץ הבניין והרחבתו יצרו חלל אחד, המחולק לעזרת גברים ולעזרת נשים, ומאפשר השתתפות המתפללים כולם בשירה ובתפילה.
נוסח התפילה ומנהגי בית הכנסת הינם של יוצאי אשכנז. שלש תפילות מתקיימות בו מידי יום – שני מנייני שחרית בימי חול ושבת, שני מנייני מנחה בשבת ובערבי שבת בקיץ, ומניין ערבית.

Beit Knesset "Emek Refaim" was founded in 1949 on Yael Street in the neighborhood of Baka (Geulim) by new immigrants, survivors of the Holocaust from Central Europe, and settlers from Israel's coast who came up to Jerusalem in order to serve in government institutions.
Today, the congregation numbers some 120 families, and continues to integrate native-born Israelis and new immigrants from across the globe.
The rabbi of the congregation is Rav Shlomo Vilk, head of the hesder yeshiva "Ohr Torah – Mahanayim" in Gush Etsyon, and a lecturer and teacher in different venues.
The nusach (version) of the prayer and the customs of the Kehilla follow the Ashkenazic tradition.
The Beit Knesset is situated in an old stone structure which boasts wide arches and a pleasant and inviting interior. The refurbishing and expansion of the building created a single space. This is divided into a men's and a women's sections, and allows for joint song and prayer by the worshippers
The three daily prayers are held regularly. There are two shacharit minyanim during the week and on Shabbat, two minyanim for mincha on Erev Shabbat and on Shabbat in the summer, and an arvit minyan.
One can also take part in classes in the Beit Knesset and on Zoom, on different topics and in various languages, in addition to our regularly scheduled derashot on Shabbat and holidays.
